American pianist and Steinway Young Artist Christopher Goodpasture is frequently recognized for his imaginative programming and wide-ranging musical curiosity.
Winner of the 2020 New York Concert Artists Worldwide Auditions and the 2019 Astral Artists National Competition in Philadelphia, Christopher has since appeared in major halls including the Philharmonie Berlin, the Kennedy Center, Benaroya Hall, Koerner Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Hall, and Weill Recital Hall. His festival appearances include Ravinia, Aspen, Caramoor, and the Valley of the Moon Music Festival, where he performs on fortepiano. He has received top prizes at the Washington, Dallas, Iowa, and Seattle International Piano Competitions, as well as the Serge Koussevitzky Competition in New York.

As a concerto soloist, Christopher has performed with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Hopkins Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Bucks County Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of New York, Dallas Chamber Symphony, Sioux City Symphony, Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, Oakville Symphony (Toronto), and the Joven Orquesta Leonesa in León, Spain, among others. Deeply drawn to the lesser-known corners of the repertoire, his performances range from core classics to rarely heard works such as Liszt’s Malediction, Barber’s Piano Concerto, and Turina’s Rhapsodia Sinfónica.
Christopher’s artistry is shaped by a spirit of exploration and collaboration. An advocate for contemporary music, he has held residencies at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris and has commissioned new works from composers including Jules Matton and jazz pianist Benoît Delbecq. He recently premiered Drumming and Dancing for solo piano by George E. Lewis at the American Philosophical Society in Philadelphia and is currently collaborating with award-winning composer Douglas Knehans on a new work for piano and string orchestra.

Born in Los Angeles, Christopher began his musical training at the Pasadena Conservatory, studying piano, chamber music, theory, and composition. He later studied with Stewart Gordon and John Perry at the University of Southern California and the Glenn Gould School in Toronto, and completed graduate degrees at The Juilliard School, the Yale School of Music, and the Peabody Institute, working with Richard Goode, Hung-Kuan Chen, Jerome Lowenthal, and Peter Frankl.
Equally committed to teaching and mentorship, Christopher was a member of Ensemble Connect (2018–2020), the fellowship of Carnegie Hall and The Juilliard School dedicated to chamber music, community engagement, and education. His recent and upcoming masterclasses include the University of Arizona, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Pasadena Conservatory, University of Missouri–Kansas City, College of Charleston, Wake Forest University, Shanghai Conservatory, Yong Siew Toh Conservatory (Singapore), and the Piano Academy of Bangkok. Since 2024, he has served as full-time piano faculty at Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan.
